Why the salary rises faster than the take-home
Each extra £1 of take-home costs more than £1 of salary, and the gap grows in each higher tax band. It is steepest between £100,000 and £125,140, where the personal allowance taper means you need about £2.60 of salary for each extra £1 you keep.
